Governor Namadi Sambo of Kaduna state has charged INEC to conduct credible and acceptable elections in 2011 to deepen the country’s democracy and good governance.
Sambo gave the task while hosting the INEC National Chairman, Prof. Maurice Iwu, national commissioners, resident electoral commissioners and top management staff of the commission at a reception marking the end of INEC’s three-day retreat in Kaduna on the 2011 general elections.
Represented by his deputy, Mr Patrick Yakowa, the governor enjoined INEC to ``organise the most successful, credible and acceptable elections in 2011.
``As tested and eminent Nigerians, you are expected to give us the very best of polls as Nigerians are awaiting the outcome of your retreat.’’
He explained that the event was organised to enable them cool off after an exhaustive brainstorming on how to conduct the most credible future elections in the country.
Responding, Iwu expressed appreciation to the state government and people for their consistent warm hospitality to the INEC family.
The Chairman, who was represented by the National Commissioner in charge of public affairs, Barr. Victor Chukwuani, assured that: ``Nigerians will soon start seeing the outcome of our three days hard work.’’
