While the mobile cell phone you are holding might be used for communications, your neighbour's handset could be a death warrant. Reason, killer mobile cell phones are in circulation in Nigeria now!
This is courtesy of devilish manufacturers from overseas who are helping us to kill ourselves. Their motive could be for economic and security reasons in a neo-colonial setup. Moreso, the 2011 general election is around the corner.
NT reports that underneath that digital handset your ``innocent'' neighbor is holding may be a .22 calibre handgun that is programmed to fire four shots in rapid succession by pressing the normal or standard cell phone keypad.
A sample of the phone illustrated here is already causing serious concern in security circles because of confirmed fears that the new generation evil phones might have been acquired by the devils in our midst.
NT findings reveal that the lethal weapon is heavier than the regular mobile phones we are used to, but are similar in size and external features. For example, the prominent features include the trigger buttons under the ``7pqrs'' button on the killer phone; cocking lever on the phone's charging point; firing pin under the ``9wxyz'' button, and the four barrels which are not visible to the ordinary eyes except with x-ray or when opened.
Confirming the report, Mr Baba Bolanta, the Oyo state Commissioner of Police, said law enforcement agencies were stunt by the latest discovery and assured that new strategies were being evolved to curb its circulation and eventual abuse.
He explained that the phone-gun is loaded by sliding the weapon apart, putting the four bullets in their chambers and triggered by merely pressing the keypad.
Though the source or manufacturers of the deadly weapon still remains a mystery, he said that law enforcement agencies are also changing the rules of engagement in Europe.
``Such a phone is not good for our society. If we see that kind of phone with anybody, we will arrest the person and confiscate the phone-gun,'' the security brass warned.
You can now begin to appreciate what modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has for our society. To be foretold is to be forewarned and a stitch in time saves nine.
